Game Coverage Criteria

Hosea 4:6 says:

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Providing biblical information freely–this is the objective of Video Games and the Bible.

We do this in two ways: Biblical Examinations and Reviews.

1: Biblical Examinations

Our Biblical Examinations take all types of games–both independent and commercial–and looks at them through the “lens” of the Bible.

In doing this, we DO NOT attack the developer, publisher, gamer, etc., but simply look at the games themselves from a Biblical perspective.

We conduct Biblical Examinations for all material, both received for review (in our Potential Concerns section found in each post) and otherwise.

Titles selected for this type of article are chosen based on the guidance of the Holy Spirit, our passions for various video game series’, or the interests of our readers.

2: Reviews

Our Reviews provide the same biblically-centered information seen in our Biblical Examinations, but use a slightly different approach/format.

We find upcoming and/or released titles that we feel may be family/Christian-friendly and attempt to showcase those games–addressing their quality, content, and any potential concerns we feel fellow believers may have.

We provide this service to support independent developers and to encourage more games of this type to be created. We also wish to alert our readers to gaming options they may not have considered/known about.

The following is the criteria we use for Paid/Free review selection:

  • Does its story/gameplay contain anti-biblical elements (witchcraft AKA magic, “another Jesus,” etc.)? How far does this influence extend?
  • Is it family friendly? Are there elements of profanity, sexuality or excessive violence that may offend our audience?
  • Is it unique? Does it provide a gaming experience or twist on a genre we haven’t seen before?
  • Is it good? Is it a quality release, or an Early Access title that is fun and playable in its current state?
  • Does it have replay value? Does it provide significant play for the price?

We do not solicit donations so that you–our audience–know that we have your best interests in mind.

However, for the games we feature in our Reviews section, we do accept review code so that we can showcase as great a variety and number of products possible. Even when review code is provided, we discuss games chosen and any reservations we may have about them honestly (example here).

We currently cover games for PC and PlayStation consoles.
