Assassin’s Creed and the Bible Part 4: Monteriggioni Statuettes

In Assassin’s Creed 2, you are first introduced to the town of Monteriggioni. Owned by the Auditore family, it has been passed down through the generations until Ezio arrives and co-rules with Mario until Mario’s death.

In this article, I would like to focus on the statues in Monteriggioni.

Hidden around the city are 8 statuettes, each depicting a Roman god. You go around the city collecting these statues, then put them on their respective pedestals.

There are two statuettes (pictured) representing Jupiter and Minerva, members of the First Civilization.

Here’s a small example of what God has to say regarding idols and false gods:

Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.” (Leviticus 19:4)

They shall be ashamed, and also confounded, all of them: they shall go to confusion together that are makers of idols.” (Isaiah 45:16)

What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?” (1 Corinthians 10:19-22)

And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.“ (2 Corinthians 6:16-17)

Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.” (Ezekiel 14:6)

For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the Lord made the heavens.” (Psalm 96:4-5)

Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.” (1 John 5:21)
