Storm

Storm intro

In the game Storm, the player controls: rain, wind, snow, lightning, tornadoes, ice and bubbles.

Who really controls these according to the Bible?:

Rain:

Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the Lord, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of the Lord, in asking you a king.

So Samuel called unto the Lord; and the Lord sent thunder and rain that day: and all the people greatly feared the Lord and Samuel.” (1 Samuel 12:17-18)

The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.” (Deuteronomy 28:12)

Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.” (Zechariah 10:1)

Wind:

But the LORD sent out a great wind into the sea, and there was a mighty tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be broken.” (Jonah 1:4)

And God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;” (Genesis 8:1)

Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;” (Jeremiah 51:1)

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even rend it with a stormy wind in my fury; and there shall be an overflowing shower in mine anger, and great hailstones in my fury to consume it.” (Ezekiel 13:13)

For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.” (Amos 4:13)

Snow:

He [God] giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.” (Psalm 147:16)

Fable and the Bible Part 2: Jack of Blades’ Throne

Fable Intro

The following passages are from the official Tales of Albion site. The full story was chronicled on Fable Wiki before Tales of Albion was shut down in 2010:

William grew obsessed with the Court, determined to find a way to overthrow it. One night, while consulting a mysterious tome, he was suddenly transported from Albion into the Void. Here he met Jack, who sat on a throne surrounded by ghastly figures. Jack tried to enslave William with the powers of an ornate sword, but William fought back and managed to steal the sword before escaping the netherworld.

Back in Albion, the sword spoke to William. It called itself the Sword of Aeons, and it promised to help him defeat the Court — but only if William offered his soul in bondage. With the Sword of Aeons, William set off to find the Court.

Let’s look a bit deeper at this story according to the Bible:

In the previous Fable and the Bible we established that the Court of Blades (which included Jack of Blades) imitated and twisted the Biblical Trinity.

We see that Jack was sitting on a throne “surrounded by ghastly figures.”  Compare that to these verses from Revelation 4:

The throne:

And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.

And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.” (Revelation 4:2-5)

The “ghastly figures” surrounding the throne:

And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.” (Revelation 4:6-8)

God of War and the Bible Part 2: The Blades of Chaos

*Note: there is an audio version of this article:

The Blades of Chaos, along with all the other blades Kratos has obtained throughout the series, are bonded to Kratos’ skin with chains as seen here:

The Chains of the God of War Series

Consider the following verses:

For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;” (2 Peter 2:4)

And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.” (Jude 1:6-7)

Along with that, in God of War III, Kratos, noticing that his chains were loose, took them off:

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.” (Psalm 2:2-5)

Hitman and the Bible Part 1: Agent 47 and The Saints

Hitman Intro (Covers from corresponding Wikipedia articles)

Agent 47 is the genetically enhanced assassin protagonist of the Hitman series.              The series has spanned 12 years, with the newest installment released on November 20, 2012.

___________________________________

When examining Agent 47 and the Hitman series according to the Bible, it is impossible to ignore the sixth commandment:

Thou shalt not kill.” (Exodus 20:13)

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.” (James 2:10-11)

And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.” (Isaiah 1:28)

Agent 47’s range of weapons is extremely varied in the series, ranging from the metal golf club and fire poker…:

And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.” (Numbers 35:16)

…to the wooden pool cue and baseball bat:

Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.” (Numbers 35:18)

Often, Agent 47 kills innocent people, sometimes for a reward:

Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.” (Deuteronomy 27:25)

In Hitman: Blood Money, Agent 47 can pay bribes to witnesses and police:

Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men: In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.” (Psalm 26:9-10)

These two passages describe 47 remarkably well:

The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.” (Psalm 10:4)

His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity. He sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent: his eyes are privily set against the poor.” (Psalm 10:7-8)

Let’s look at the similarities between Agent 47 and these verses:

  • It said that the wicked “will not seek after God.” Agent 47 decides to leave behind the pursuit of his “god” (symbolized through his rejection of Catholic implements-the rosary beads and crucifix) after the events of Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. That also lines up with Isaiah 1:28.
  • It said the wicked’s mouth “is full of cursing.” Agent 47 does in fact use profanity, most notably in a cutscene near the end of Hitman: Blood Money.
  • It said the wicked’s mouth is full of “deceit and fraud.” 47 has used deceit and fraud throughout the entire series.
  • It said that the wicked “sitteth in the lurking places of the villages: in the secret places doth he murder the innocent.” Agent 47 does this in almost every mission.

According to these verses, we can see that Agent 47 is not an antihero as he is often portrayed, but is in fact wicked according to the Bible.

Thou [God] hast rebuked the heathen, thou hast destroyed the wicked, thou hast put out their name for ever and ever.” (Psalm 9:5)

However, there is something MUCH worse which has emerged in the Hitman series.

Halo and the Bible Part 2: The Covenant

*Note: there is an audio version of this article:

The “Covenant” is one of the enemies in the Halo series. Since the first installment was released in 2001, players have killed billions of these aliens.

For those who don’t know, the Covenant are an alliance of various alien species that are united by one governing religion.

Let’s examine the Covenant according to the Bible:

Turn to Acts 3:25:

Ye [Christians] are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.

Here we see that Christians are the children of the covenant.

The Covenant have prophets (such as the Prophet of Truth depicted in Halo):

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;” (Hebrews 1:1-2)

In this verse we see God spoke through the prophets (such as Jeremiah or Isaiah). However, the prophets depicted in Halo are not of this type.

The prophets lie about a “Great Journey” that will result from activating the Halo rings. They say that it will make all who join them into gods. In reality, activating the rings will kill everyone. This is revealing when compared with the following verses:

But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die [this came true, as nearly every one of the prophets in Halo have died].

And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken?

When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.” (Deuteronomy 18:20-22)

The Covenant even have ministries! These ministries span from the “Ministry of Resolution” to the “Ministry of Tranquility:”

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.” (Acts 6:3-4)

And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;” (2 Corinthians 5:18)

And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;” (1 Timothy 1:12)

But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.” (Acts 20:24)

And say to Archippus, Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.” (Colossians 4:17)

Halo and the Bible Part 1: The Flood (Gravemind)

The Gravemind is the most advanced version of Halo’s Flood species (you can find pictures of him on Halopedia). He controls all flood warriors, everywhere, at once. Along with this, his ability to absorb the memories of fallen foes and possess the knowledge of all previous Graveminds makes him nearly omniscient. He is your enemy in-game, with Master Chief finally destroying him in Halo 3.

Let’s examine the Gravemind (and by extension the Flood) according to the Bible:

*Note: Gravemind quotes are in italics, and scripture quotes are in bold italics.

Lines from Halo 2:

There is much talk, and I have listened, through rock and metal and time. Now I shall talk, and you shall listen.

Silence fills the empty grave, now that I have gone. But my mind is not at rest, for questions linger on. I will ask, and you will answer.

“[God speaking to Job] Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.” (Job 38:3)

Lines from Halo 3:

Do not be afraid. I am peace; I am salvation.

“[A prophecy concerning Jesus] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,” (1 Thessalonians 5:9)

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16)

Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.” (2 Timothy 2:10)

Child of my enemy, why have you come? I offer no forgiveness, a father’s sins, passed to his son.

And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.” (Exodus 34:6-7)

I have beaten fleets of thousands! Consumed a galaxy of flesh and mind and bone!

I will utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the Lord.

I will consume man and beast; I will consume the fowls of the heaven, and the fishes of the sea, and the stumbling blocks with the wicked: and I will cut off man from off the land, saith the Lord.” (Zephaniah 1:2-3)

I will rise again.

And he [Jesus] began to teach them, that the Son of man [Jesus] must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.” (Mark 8:31)

Fable and the Bible Part 1: The Beginning of Albion (The Old Kingdom)

In Fable series lore it is said that “when the world was young, Albion [the world of the Fable series] was a peaceful land full of tranquility and beauty.

Then, out of a place called “the Void” came three figures: “the Knight, the Queen, and the Jack of Blades. They coveted Albion and demanded that all men bow down before them.

This is the rest of the story of Albion’s origins and what Fable calls “the Old Kingdom” from the official Tales of Albion site (which was taken down in 2010 due to a site redesign, and can now be found on Fable Wiki):

When the people refused [to bow down], the Court burned Albion until the earth turned black and the sky was thick with smoke. Then the Court demanded obedience again, only to be refused a second time. This time the Court lifted the sea into the sky and flooded the world.

A third time the Court demanded that men worship them, promising peace and an end to the misery. Those who survived still refused. So the Court twisted their minds until brother slew brother, parents abandoned their children, and friend turned against friend.

Finally, the people of Albion bowed to the Court. They and their descendants toiled to raise monuments to those who came from the Void.

In the days when the people still suffered under the Court’s cruelty, a humble blacksmith and his wife had a boy. They named him William Black, and he would become the key to saving Albion.

Little is known about William’s youth. As a grown man, he amazed others with the powers of his mind, by which he was able to protect his village and perform feats that a dozen other men could not equal. These acts came to be celebrated as the “Powers of Will.”

William scaled the peak of Ruon, Albion’s highest mountain, and challenged the Court to combat. The Knight of Blades appeared first and, wielding the Sword of Aeons, William destroyed him completely.

Next the Jack of Blades appeared. They fiercely struck at one another until William broke Jack’s body. Some say that Jack was not truly slain, and that his soul escaped to the void.

The Queen of Blades was the last to face William. For weeks their battle raged across Albion. Mountains were raised and valleys were formed by their mighty blows. At last, William slew the Queen and freed the people from their yoke. They acclaimed William, who now took the title Archon, as their king.

Once he had vanquished the Court, the Archon set his mind to unifying Albion into a great kingdom. His powers of Will were so great that it seemed the world reshaped itself in accordance with his wishes. Cities were built in a week’s time, and marvelous machines were constructed that ran on will alone. Through a thousand years of peace, Albion reigned as the greatest center of commerce and philosophy the world had ever known.

Let’s examine the story above Biblically:

Alan Wake and the Bible Part 2: Alan

These are pages 3 and 4 of the manuscript Return (seen in Alan Wake’s American Nightmare):

Page 3: Rewriting Reality

The reality we take for granted is softer, more adaptable than we think. Under correct conditions, you can reshape it, turn it into almost anything you want. When it happens, almost nobody notices. It’s not that we forget; it’s that after the change, there’s nothing to remember.

Only those who have been directly touched by the powers that can shift reality are aware of the changes. Many are driven mad by it. Others can cope. I am one of those people, and I know to wield that power to rewrite reality.

Page 4: The Devil is in the Details

To change reality, you nudge it into the right direction. Your version of it is there, waiting; it wants to come true. All you need to do is to help it achieve its potential. The devil is in the details.

You change the details of the scene to match those on the page. If you get the details right, if you achieve that critical mass, the shift will come, and the rest of your new reality overrides the existing paradigm.

The lie — no matter how outrageous — is now the truth.

Compare the scriptures below with the quotes above:

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4)

He [God] made darkness his secret place; his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.” (Psalm 18:11)

Alan Wake is in the Dark Place, which matches the description of where God is in Psalm 18:11:

That lines up with “so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.” Now look at the verses below:

Alan Wake and the Bible Part 1: Old Gods of Asgard (The Anderson Brothers)

*Note: there is an audio version of this article:

Tor and Odin Anderson are the brothers who formed the fictional rock band, Old Gods of Asgard.

Tor named himself after Thor, while his brother/bandmate named himself Odin. These are both Norse gods-one of lightning and the other the ruler of Asgard, respectively.  A little bit of what Alan Wake has to say about the Anderson brothers:

  • The Andersons feel like gods. Odin can’t stop laughing, he contemplates cutting his eye out [the Odin of mythology was missing an eye]. Tor runs across the field, naked, shrieking, hammer in his hand, trying to catch lighting.
  • Lightning flashed behind the window of Cauldron Lake Lodge. Tor Anderson laughed and held the steel hammer above his head. Nurse Sinclair was trying to calm him down without success.

Tor grinned madly and shouted: “My hammer’s up! Here’s a friendly poke from Mjölnir [Mjölnir was the hammer Thor used in mythology], wench!””

He brought the hammer down with all his might on Sinclair’s head. “We’re on a comeback tour, baby!””

Alan says this about the Anderson brothers in Alan Wake’s American Nightmare:

  • …But there’s something in them, something powerful that took hold when they were touched by the powers beyond, a thing that goes far beyond just stage names. Something godlike.
  • Getting the Andersons into the recording studio was a struggle and a half, but once they actually picked up the instruments, something happened. They were two old men, and they weren’t; they were doddering bags of bone, and they were barely contained power… And there was music.

Hebrews 13:15 shows that praise can be a sacrifice:

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

1 Corinthians 10:19-20 explains that things sacrificed to idols is not really to the idols, but to devils:

What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

Habakkuk 3:3-4 links the passages above to Alan Wake:

God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.

This is how it all connects:

The Norse gods (The “Old Gods of Asgard” in the band’s title) are revealed to be devils in 1 Corinthians. The Anderson’s sacrifice of praise to devils is going out through the Earth due to their management by Barry Wheeler. Then, we see Alan Wake’s quote “they were doddering bags of bone, and they were barely contained power” referring to these aged rockers when they perform.

Many rock stars are known for making a horned symbol while performing, much like the one Tor is doing in the picture below, taken directly from the game:

This lines up with Habakkuk where it says, “he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.

Clearly, this all points to a replacement of the one true God with devils-the Old Gods of Asgard.

A final verse:

Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” (Isaiah 45:22)

Assassin’s Creed and the Bible Part 5: The Toba Catastrophe

During the Toba Catastrophe there were earthquakes, lightning strikes-total devastation. The sun caused the Earth to burn for weeks. Charred bodies can be seen in a cutscene in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

AC Revelations Toba Charred Body from YouTube-W4RRI0R360 channelAnd the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.” (Revelation 16:8-9)

And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done.

And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great.” (Revelation 16:17-18)

In The Book of Revelation, we can see that the seven last plagues contain the wrath of God. Here’s a few additional verses on the subject:

And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.” (Revelation 15:1)

And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.” (Revelation 16:19)

Jupiter said this about the Toba Catastrophe’s aftermath: “The earth shook for days, the fires burned for weeks, and when the ash had settled, less than ten thousand of your kind still lived, and far fewer of ours.” Look at Isaiah 13:11, Isaiah 13:13 and Jeremiah 10:10:

And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.” (Isaiah 13:11)

Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.” (Isaiah 13:13)

But the Lord is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.

Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens.” (Jeremiah 10:10-11)

Nearly the entire planet was rendered barren after the catastrophe. Turn to Psalm 107:33-34:

He [God]turneth rivers into a wilderness, and the watersprings into dry ground; A fruitful land into barrenness, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

The Toba Catastrophe has a connection to the Biblical flood.

This is a picture of the Earth during the Toba catastrophe. Looks like water, doesn’t it?:

It is important to remember why God flooded the world:

And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” (Genesis 6:5)

Jupiter told Desmond this about the First Civilization’s efforts to avert the coming disaster: “We built vaults within which to work, each dedicated to a different method of salvation.” Turn to 1 Timothy 5:9, John 3:36 and John 14:6:

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” (John 3:36)

For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,” (1 Thessalonians 5:9)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)
